UWest Student Research Groups

UWest Student Research Groups

In the spirit of fostering new and evolving scholarship techniques in the digital age, PhD students at University of the West have formed Student Research Groups (SRG).  These groups are composed of students  who are engaged in dissertation research and writing in order to earn  their doctorate.  Organized and mentored by Dr. Lewis Lancaster, UC  Berkeley Emeritus and Research Professor of UWest, each group is  comprised of students whose dissertation topics are closely related.   As they compile data, bibliographies etc. they are also building  websites in order to organize their efforts and also share resources  and sources of scholarship which might aid others out in the world who  are researching and studying related subjects.

In Memorial

In Spring of 2003 the UWest Religious Studies Department sponsored a special lecture series titled Religion and War in response to the build up and eventual invasion of Iraq by the U.S. led coalition.

Dr. Thich An-hue's presentation on Buddhism and War, in which he begins his talk with a short play, presents a person coming across a Shaolin trained monk who has mastered the martial arts.
